Hof's Hut Owner Plans to Deliver New Pizza Place to Los Alamitos

Craig Hofman, who also owns Lucille's Smokehouse Barbecue, is bringing Kansas City's Spin Neapolitan Pizza to town.

Burgers, barbecue and now ... pepperoni.

The owner of Hof's Hut and Lucille's BBQ plans to expand his restaurant resumé to include pizza, and he's chosen Los Alamitos for one of his first pie places.

Craig Hofman, whose father opened the first Hof's Hut in 1951, aims to bring Spin! Neapolitan Pizza to 11222 Los Alamitos Blvd.

In September, Hofman’s company, Bard Associates LLC, applied for a license to sell beer and wine at the site, according to the state’s Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. According to a sign in the business window, Hofman's application is on hold while he prepares for construction.

The site is the former home of two pizza joints -- Shakey’s and, later, a restaurant called Train Wreck Pizza.

Hofman could not be reached for comment, so there’s no word on when the biz might move in.

According to Hof’s Hut website, the first Hof's Hut was opened Sept. 16, 1951, in Belmont Shore by Harold Hofman, the same day his son Craig was born.

Craig Hofman’s other business have multiple American locations: Hof’s hut has six sites in California including one in Los Alamitos, and Lucille’s Smokehouse Barbecue has 14 in California, one in Arizona and one in Nevada, according to the businesses’ websites.
