Shop Local: Harvey Girls Gallery Reopens Friday

Customers will find sales, refreshments, and, a little later, live music and an open house at the store's new location in Old Town.

The girls are back in town.

Harvey Girls Gallery, a Seal Beach boutique run by a mother-daughter team, will reopen its doors 10 a.m. Friday. Customers will find sales, refreshments and live music.

Brooke Reid, who co-owns the biz with her mom Mary Ann Harvey, said they’ve been working long hours to get the new location ready in time for Friday.

“We’ve been nose-to-the-grindstone to get open by the first,” Reid said.

Her mother started the store in Missouri about 27 years ago, Reid said, and in 2011, they moved to Seal Beach.

More recently, the gallery made a much smaller move in December — from their about 900-square-foot spot at 212 Main to a new spot at 130 ½ Main. Reid said the new location has more than twice the room of the former Seal Beach site.

The 212 Main Street address now houses part of the apparel store

“We have a good sale that's in right now,” Reid said. “(And) just tons of all new inventory. The whole place is brand new, so we were able to expand a lot.”

Reid said they’re carrying more home décor, furniture and gifts, as well as more items that are made in the U.S., especially in Los Angeles. Most of their inventory is new following their 50-percent-off "Help Us Pack" sale in December.

The gallery will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day.

On Friday, the shop will have refreshments all day, and an open house and live music from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Brooke’s husband, Tim Reid Jr., will play the piano, Brooke’s father, Mike Harvey, will play drums and Guy James will play guitar.

In a brief interview with Patch, Reid invited everyone to check out the re-opening and the new digs.

"It’ll be a fun event, so come down," she said. "It’ll be a good time.”

In addition to celebrating the reopening, Harvey's will be participating in a local tradition — the First Friday on Main, an event where some Main Street businesses hold open houses, give out refreshments and sell items at discount on the first Friday of the month.
