Bikini season is just around the corner, and the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce has put together a beachside health expo with free demonstrations, tests, tips and giveaways for getting fit and staying healthy.
The 5th Annual Seal Beach “Be More Healthy” Expo is March 24, and organizers have shaken things up this year. The event has been moved to Eisenhower Park to reach the crowds and to make room for live demonstrations of fitness trends from Cross-training to zumba.
“Living in Seal Beach, you have all the opportunities to get healthy,” said Expo Chairman, Diana Bean of Take Shape for Life. “Our goal is for you to come find out about your health and how you can start making small lifestyle changes for you and your family.”
This year’s Expo will feature free hearing and sight and stroke screenings by SCAN along with health screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose, and BMI by Western University of Healthy Sciences, College of Pharmacy. There will also be free information provided on nutrition, heart health, heartburn, diabetes, and medication counseling.
The Chamber has arranged for transportation from Leisure World to accommodate seniors who don’t drive. Additionally, the nonprofit Food Finders Food will be on-hand collecting food for those in need, and visitors are encouraged to bring canned and boxed, non-perishable food to donate.
Participating vendors include the Citizens Emergency Response Team with their mobile command center, Edison with their mobile energy unit, Non-Surgical Spine Care Center, Anytime Fitness, Beach Fire Bootcamp, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Whole Body Vibe, Smith Upper Cervical Chiropractic Health Care, Shohet Ear Associates, Long Beach Memorial & Miller’s Children’s Hospital, Home Instead Senior Care, Caremore Health Plan, Vida Organic Wellness, Take Shape for Life, OC Vitality Acupuncture, Nu Skin, Health & Life Plans 4 less, Seal Beach Animal Care Center, and State Farm. However, there is still space for additional vendors. Anyone looking to get involved can contact by contacting the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce at 562-799-0179.
The expo is March 24 at Eisenhower Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Whether you’re a kid or a senior, we’ll have everything that fits your lifestyle,” added Bean. “From exercises that seniors can do to hardcore zumba, we’ll have something for everyone.”
