Gas Prices Inch Down at Local Stations

After a month of climbing fuel prices, the trend reverses course in the last several days.

The price of a gallon of gas has been dropping every day for the last week after climbing to the $4 mark locally.

According to the Automobile Club of Southern California's fuel-gauge report, a gallon of regular gas averaged $3.92 in Orange County on Monday.

In recent weeks, gas prices have climbed so that the average cost of gas is down by 2 cents in the last week but still 22 cents more than it was a month ago.

“A year ago at this time, local drivers were paying nearly a dollar less a gallon, or about $15 less per tank,” said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring. “Even though we never reached the record $4.50-plus prices of 2008, drivers have paid the same amount on average so far this year as they did between Jan. 1 and Sept. 15 of 2008. This year’s average price for the Los Angeles area so far is $3.84.”

The stations currently selling the cheapest gas in the Seal Beach, Rossmoor and Los Alamitos area are listed below. Local prices are according to GasBuddy.com and reflect prices reported within the last 24 hours. The cheapest stations in Los Alamitos saw no price climb over the last week, but Seal Beach saw prices climb by five to 10 cents.
