Fresh & Easy Offering 'Pink Slime Swap Meat' on Wednesday

The store in Seal Beach will exchange up to 2 pounds of its own ground beef for that of any other retailer.

With grocery stores, fast food joints and schools falling over themselves to jump off the bandwagon, one chain is taking things a step further—it'll take the stuff off your hands in exchange for its own product.

El Segundo-based grocery chain Fresh & Easy announced Monday that its stores will be hosting "Pink Slime Swap Meat" events all day Wednesday. Customers can bring fresh or frozen ground beef from another retailer to any Fresh & Easy and exchange it for a package of the store's ground beef. The Seal Beach store is on PCH between Main Street and 8th Street.

"It’s understandable that people would lose confidence in food retailers because of the use of pink slime," Fresh & Easy CEO Tim Mason said. "Fresh & Easy has never been about shortcuts or fillers—just high-quality fresh food that we produce ourselves, so we know it’s the best."
