Chamber Warns Businesses of Counterfeit Bills

Several Seal Beach businesses, including Pedego Bikes and Bay Hardware, recently accepted bad checks and counterfeit bills.

Bad checks and fake money recently landed in cash registers at several Seal Beach businesses, the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce reported in a memo.

Pedego Bikes and Bay Hardware are among the businesses that accepted checks from a closed account. Several businesses along Main Street also accepted fake bills, some as small as $5, the chamber reported.

Chamber officials issued the bad check and counterfeit currency alert last week to warn business owners about fraud.

  • Ask for a valid drivers license with physical address (no PO boxes)
