BMW Recalls Most Popular Sedan

A flaw in the battery cable can cause the 3-Series engine to stall. The recall affects roughly 570,000 vehicles.

BMW is recalling its most popular model ― nearly 570,000 cars ― because of a flaw that causes engines to stall.

The problem stems from a battery cable with a tendency to fail in the 3-Series sedans, wagons, convertibles and coupes from the 2007 through 2011. The company is also recalling the 1-Series coupes and convertibles from 2008 through 2012 and the Z4 sports car from 2009 through 2011, according to the Huffington Post.

According to The National Highway Safety Administration, the cable connectors and a fuse box terminal degrade, breaking the electrical connection.
BMW will replace and install the flawed parts free of charge.

According to the Huffington Post, the 3-Series dominates the luxury car market, and BMW owners can contact the company at (800) 525-7417.
