Yearlong Lane Reduction Begins on Freeway Connectors

Tonight, the north 405/605 connector will be restriped down to one lane, and the 22/405 connector will soon shrink to one lane too.

It begins.

The bulk of the work on the four-year is shifting westward with major effects in store for the Seal Beach, Rossmoor, Long Beach and Los Alamitos areas. Starting today, local freeway connectors will be reduced to one lane for an entire year.

The east 22 to the north 405/north 605 connector will be closed from 11 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. Saturday as crews restripe the connector down to one lane for the next year.

The reduced lane connector will stay that way for the year as crews begin work to construct the new 405/605 carpool connector.

In addition, in late July, the east 22 to north 405 connector will close for approximately 12 months. According to the Orange County Transportation Authority, this connector must be reconstructed to accommodate the 405/605 carpool connector.
