A dead gray whale with tail injuries and black rope attached to its flukes was found off Long Beach on Tuesday -- and authorities said it might be the same near Laguna Beach last weekend, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.
"It could be a potential match, but it's hard to say," a federal wildlife biologist said, explaining that no DNA samples were taken from the rescued whale. "We do have a lot of entangled animals, especially gray whales, so it wouldn't be a surprise if it's a new one."
