Volunteer Dog Walker Stalked by Coyote

The Rossmoor Predator Management Team warns residents about coyote sightings in the neighborhood after a woman and two dogs were stalked by a coyote.

The is warning residents in the area to be on guard against aggressive coyotes after a volunteer dog walker at the Seal Beach Animal Care Center had an unsettling experience Monday morning. The team passed along the following sighting from a team member named Rachel.

At approximately 8:30 am this morning, I was walking 2 small dogs at the Seal Beach Animal Care Center (Adolfo Lopez Dr. in Seal Beach) when another volunteer called over to me and told me that there was a coyote, approximately 100 years behind me, stalking me and the dogs. I immediately crossed the street, but the coyote continued to follow us.  I threw rocks at it and it backed off, but continued to watch us as we headed back to the shelter.  Eventually, it ran off, but I was able to get a distant photo of it.  It is standing next to the lamppost in the attached picture.  I have never seen a Coyote during daylight hours before and I was very surprised at just how brazen it was.  Please warn others.
