Southbound 405 to Close Every Night This Week

As crews prepare to reopen the 7th Street Bridge, the Seal Beach Boulevard Overpass moves up on the list to be torn down.

The 7th Street Bridge is still on track to reopen some time this month, according to the Orange County Transportation Authority.

But that means that the Seal Beach Boulevard overpass is the next to be torn down.

  • As progress continues, the work is shifting westward. This week, the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway will be closed from the San Gabriel (605) Freeway to Seal Beach Boulevard nightly this week, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
    RECOMMENDED DETOURS:

    From the southbound 405
, exit Studebaker Road (stay in the right lane) and continue south, turn left on Westminster Avenue then turn left on Seal Beach Boulevard and proceed north to access the southbound 405 on-ramp - OR -continue east on Westminster Avenue then turn left on Goldenwest Street to access the eastbound Garden Grove (22) Freeway on-ramp
    From the southbound 605
, exit Spring Street and turn right and proceed west, turn left on Studebaker Road and continue south, turn left on Westminster Avenue and turn left on Seal Beach Boulevard to access the southbound 405 on-ramp - OR - continue east on Westminster Avenue then turn left to access the eastbound 22 on-ramp.
  • Construction activities on the access road along Old Ranch Parkway and the northbound 405 freeway is ongoing. This work is expected to last for two to three weeks and will require roadway compaction and paving activities along portions of Old Ranch Parkway and the northbound 405 freeway adjacent to Rossmoor. This work may be loud and disruptive to the neighboring community due to vibration, equipment noise, truck activity and back-up alarms.
  • Reconstruction of the Bixby Channel and Montecito Channel (adjacent to Martha Ann Drive / Copa de Oro Drive and the 405/605), is ongoing and is scheduled for completion later this month. This work will be done during the day and may be loud and disruptive to the neighboring community.
  • A dirt embankment is currently in settlement on Seal Beach Boulevard adjacent to the fire station. This earth is being settled for the future Seal Beach Bridge widening.
