Major 405 Freeway Closure Friday

There is good news and bad news.

The Bad: Friday night into Saturday morning, both sides of the 405 (San Diego) Freeway will close down between the 605 (San Gabriel) Freeway and Seal Beach Boulevard to allow crews to pour the new concrete for the 7th Street Bridge.

The Good: The 7th Street Bridge is scheduled to reopen in April.

The Orange County Transportation Authority is recommending that commuters avoid the area if possible during the closures between 11 p.m. tonight and 7 a.m. Saturday. However, crews will attempt to stagger the lane closures throughout the night to minimize the traffic impact.

When the northbound 405 is closed, the southbound 405 will be reduced to one lane. Once work is completed along the northbound 405, crews will fully close the southbound 405. At that time, one northbound 405 lane will remain open.

NORTHBOUND 405 FULL CLOSURE DETOURS:

• From the northbound 405, exit Westminster Avenue, turn left on Westminster Avenue and proceed west, turn right on Studebaker Road and continue north to access the northbound 405 on-ramp

- OR -

• From the northbound 405, exit Westminster Avenue, turn left on Westminster Avenue and proceed west, turn right on Seal Beach Boulevard / Los Alamitos Boulevard and continue north, turn left on Katella Avenue to access the northbound 605 on-ramp 

 SOUTHBOUND 405 FULL CLOSURE DETOURS:

• From the southbound 405, exit Studebaker Road - stay in the right lane and proceed south on Studebaker Road, turn left on Westminster Avenue then continue east on Westminster Avenue to access the southbound 405 on-ramp

- OR

• Continue east on Westminster Avenue and turn left on Goldenwest Street to access the eastbound 22 on-ramp   

• From the southbound 605, take the Spring Street exit and turn right, proceed west on Spring Street and turn left on Studebaker Road, turn left on Westminster Avenue then continue east on Westminster Avenue to access the southbound 405 on-ramp

• Continue east on Westminster Avenue and turn left on Goldenwest Street to access the eastbound 22 on-ramp
