Two-Alarm Blaze Forces Leisure World Evacuations

A fire that started in one unit Monday morning forced evacuations in Leisure World.

A two-alarm blaze at Leisure World in Seal Beach forced the evacuation of some residents today, but no one was hurt, a fire captain said.

Firefighters were dispatched at 9:22 a.m. to 1351 Oakmont Road. The blaze appeared to have started in one unit in the retirement community's single- story apartments and spread into an attic, said Capt. Jon Muir of the Orange County Fire Authority.

Residents were evacuated as the blaze was raised to two alarms before it was knocked down about 9:45 a.m., Muir said.
