Stacked Stones Make Mysterious Return to Seal Beach

Once again, the stones and boulders at the Seal Beach jetty are taking a stand against gravity.

As if watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean isn’t magic enough, the stacked stones are back at the San Gabriel River jetty in Seal Beach.

Enjoy them while they last.

The gravity-defying mystery is definitely worth a tour in person. In the mean time, this slideshow is Patch’s Picture of the Day.

Take a photo of something interesting in Seal Beach, Leisure World, Los Alamitos and Rossmoor. Send it to me, paige.austin@patch.com. I'll post it to the site as our photo of the day. Include your name and some information about the photo.

The picture can be anything that strikes your fancy—a beautiful sunset, your dog's funny face, your beautiful rose garden or a killer action shot from you child's Little League game.

this artist also does this up the bike path and it's very cool to see the standing stones as I'm running my long distance miles up the path, sadly some people knock them down.

Yes. Over the last decade this guy, who seems to live out of his car while traveling up and down the coast, has shown up in Seal Beach periodically, staying for days at a time and stacking rocks. In years past, I met and talked to him. This time, I didn't run into him and can only assume it is the same guy. Or it's entirely possible that someone new is staking rocks.
