           “Anchors Aweigh” at Cypress Navy Golf Course

 

 Redondo Beach, CA July 20, 2012 - Senior Comedy Afternoons show is set for this SUNDAY at Noon to 3:00 p.m. July 22 at the Eagle’s Nest Restaurant Clubhouse at Cypress Navy Golf Course at 5660 Orangewood Avenue in Cypress.

 - Stepping it up a notch- SCA has specially created the “ANCHORETTES” (also over 70) who will be tapping their way into audience hearts before the comedians come on stage to flip them over!  Bonnie Barchichat, Executive Producer has added an extra dimension to her patriotic and Navy themed comedy show with this unique opening act that’s sure to be fun!

“Anchors Aweigh” will feature four senior comics – with three new SCA recruits making their premiere appearance. Jan Bock is a poetic, ukulele-playing comedienne who goes by the moniker the “Bionic Comic” due to her hip replacements. At 77, Ned Buckman who is billed as “Oldie Not Moldy” is a tennis-playing, former real estate developer who used to be a curator before he turned to comedy. Eulynda Porter, nicknamed “BL” for “Black Lucy” has appeared at The Gardenia, and The Watts Coffee House.  In addition there is MC Michael Sherman who is a seasoned comic and impressionist and known for his remarkable Jack Benny, George Burns and Ed Sullivan routines!

 

The All-inclusive cost of $39.50 per person covers the show plus an Italian-style buffet lunch inclusive of Tax and Tip! Military Discount Available for Active & Retired.  (Proof Required).  Round table seating for groups of 8-10 offers a view of the course and the fountains.                                              

 

“Senior Comedy Afternoons promotes positive aging,” says producer Bonnie Barchichat. “Birthdays are a big part of the show! Birthdays are celebrated with crowns, flowers, song and surprises.  Birthday cake too!

 

Audience members are being encouraged to wear red, white and Navy Blue to honor the Navy location.

 

Now in its second year, the shows are set up at a variety of comfortable walker- and wheelchair accessible venues.
