45th Annual Sunset Beach Art Festival

The Sunset Beach Art Festival combines shopping and fun for the whole family over the Mother's Day weekend, May 12th and 13th.  The Festival boasts over 150 artisan  booths displaying and selling original, hand-made craft items:  Textiles, ceramics, jewelry, woodwork, stain-glass, and many other practical and decorative kinds of arts.  Each item must be made by the artist and cannot be bought in the retail market.  The booths are located on our Sunset Beach green belt, which runs through town.

In addition, a fine arts gallery in our Firehouse on 12th street, will display/sell original graphic and photographic pieces of amazing diversity and creativity.  This juried show draws artists from all over Southern California.

Local bands entertain the visitors, locals, and volunteers in our 12th Street Community Center as they enjoy such festival faire as  fish tacos from Taco Surf, shaved ice and other sweet treats, along with wine and beer.

The Kids Zone, also located on 12th Street, makes the festival a truly family-fun event.  Kids can enjoy making a Mother’s Day present to Mom, play games, do chalk-art and compete in special talent show that shows off  the performing skills of the young set.  Other attractions include a face-painting booth, a caricature booth, snack booths and, for parents, craft booths displaying crafted items for children.  The activities in the Kids Zone are free, except for food, drinks and purchases.

The highlight of the festival is the raffle of a handmade quilt, sewn by members of the community and Las Damas. It features multiple squares designed to resemble events, landmarks, and business in the community.  Raffle tickets are available at the festival for $5.00 each.  You do not have to be present to win.

Artist’s donations are raffled throughout the two days of the festival.  Only $1.00/each!
