Always a joyful site to see parents reuniting with their children.

Nearly 100 soldiers belonging to a Long Beach-based California National Guard unit returned to Southern California Tuesday night after a 9-month deployment in Afghanistan.

The members of the 216th Mobility Augmentation Command flew into the Joint Forces Training Base at Los Alamitos in Orange County, according to a statement from the base.

"During the unit's time in Afghanistan, their focus was maintaining roadways in and around the Ghazni Province, searching for improvised explosive devices," it said.
