Volunteers Conduct Missing Persons Search in First Citywide Disaster Drill

Volunteers from several groups got together Saturday for an emergency preparedness drill.

More than 100 volunteers spanned Seal Beach Saturday in a full-scale exercise simulating a missing person search.

The event was the first time volunteers with CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), VIP (Volunteers in Police Service), RACE (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services) and volunteers from the community gathered for a citywide emergency drill.

During the drill, volunteers delivered informational materials on disaster preparedness, animal licenses and parking permits throughout the city. The drill is designed to help prepare the volunteers as well as residents for missing persons search or a full-scale disaster such as an earthquake, tornado or tsunami.
