Surf Contest Off for This Weekend

Forecasts for weak surf conditions prompt organizers of the 2012 Seal Beach Surfing Championship to pass on this weekend.

The weather may be cooperating, but the waves aren’t. The Seal Beach Lifeguards Department announced Wednesday that the 2012 Seal Beach Surfing Championship is off for this weekend. While the weather is likely to be warm and sunny, according to the National Weather Service, Surfline is predicting weak wave conditions this weekend in Seal Beach.

The waiting period for the contest will last through Feb. 26. Competitors can still register at sbsurfcontest.com.

The format for the contest will consist of a 30-minute heat on a first come, first serve basis for the first 30 surfers to enter. Within the 30 minutes the surfer to perform the best trick will win a new Body Glove wetsuit and a pair of booties.
