St. Isidore to Celebrate Cinco De Mayo A Day Early With Music, Margeritas

Event will include demonstrations of folklorico and Aztec dancing, as well as big band music from musician Eddie Banuelos.

The Spanish word for celebration? Celebración.

The day before Cinco De Mayo, St. Isidore’s Historical plaza will hold a celebración of Mexican culture with food, music and traditional dances.

The event begins at noon May 4 at the plaza at 10961 Reagan Street in Los Alamitos, and will include margaritas, big band music by Eddie Banuelos and demonstrations of traditional Folklorico and Aztec dancing.

All proceeds will go to help raise enough money to help buy and preserve the the St. Isidore Historical Plaza, according to Anita Schommer, plaza publicity director.

“We’re trying to save the church,” Schommer said. “It’s the oldest building in the community and probably one of the oldest in our area.”

Schommer added, “I can’t imagine how the people would feel around here in 2014 — that’s the day that it would have be bought by — if they tear it down.”
