For Salon Meritage, A Rebirth

Dozens gather Sunday as the site of last year's shooting reopens.

In a tribute to survival and hope, Sandi Fannin, who lost her husband and several friends and employees in last year’s massacre at Salon Meritage, helped celebrate the reopening of the salon Sunday.

Fannin sold the business to stylist Irma Acosta, who completely renovated the space but kept its name. To symbolize the salon’s transformation, butterflies were released during Sunday's ceremony.

Dozens of well-wishers offered hugs and prayers.

On behalf of our Salon Meritage family, we would like to thank everybody who has been part of such magnificent support. It has truly been inspiring. There is no way we could ever express our gratitude to everybody who took part in the support we have been so fortunate to receive. May we all come out stronger and still be able to love. Thank you, everyone. Jeffery P. Segall, RN Salon Meritage Stylist
