Community Corner

Rossmoor Paper Drive

The Rossmoor Paper Drive goes off rain or shine on the last Saturday of each month.

Today is the Rossmoor Homeowners Association Paper Drive to raise funds to improve the Rossmoor community and support the Los Alamitos High School baseball team whose players volunteer at the drives.

On the last Saturday of every month volunteers gather at the Rush Park parking lot on Blume Drive to load up to collect newspapers and other waste paper products such as books, magazines, and cardboard. The drive runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and typically nets as much as 10 to 15 tons.

According to the Rossmoor Homeowners Association, volunteers have given an estimated to 5,600 hours since 1995, saving an equivalent of 53,600 35-ft tall trees and 12,900,000 kilowatt hours of electrical energy and raising more than $100,000 in funds for local playgrounds, tress and community events.
