Locals have held the festival since at least 1988, according to Bev Houghton, second vice president of the Rossmoor Homeowners Association.

“It’s a great family event,” Houghton said. “There’s a lot of activities.”

The association and Rossmoor Community Service District are co-sponsoring the festival. Also at the event, We Care of Los Alamitos will host its second annual High Heel Dash.

“It’s a race where you put on high heels, and you do a short sprint,” Houghton said. Kids and adults, male or female, are all welcome to join the run, she said.

The money raised goes to We Care, which aims to provide food, clothing and shelter to needy people in the community. For more information or to sign up, visit www.wecarelosalamitos.org.

Boy Scout Troop 657 will begin the festivities at 10 a.m. with a presentation of colors. Haley and Teri Smith will sing the national anthem. Afterward, Elvis impersonator Gary Anderson will perform.

For the first time, the annual event will have food trucks, including Burger MonsterRanch A Go Go Barbecue and Front Porch Pops.

Also at the festival, the Orange County Sheriff's Department will showcase a sheriff's boat, K-9 unit and classic patrol car.

The event will also include bounce houses, pony rides, a dual-lane slide, a rock-climbing wall and a trackless train.
