This week Michael Maynard was appointed to the Rossmoor Community Services District Board of Directors.
In April, board member Shannon Hough issued a letter of resignation stating her intention to move out of state. The vacancy was announced and 10 Rossmoor residents submitted letters of interest.
At a special meeting, the board of directors conducted interviews for the vacant position. Six individuals appeared, making presentations and responding to questions. At the completion of the interviews, the board proceeded to open nominations for selection of a candidate to fill the position. To be successful, the candidate had to receive three or more votes, and Maynard received three out of four votes.

A businessman and Rossmoor resident for nine years, Maynard said in his letter of interest for the position: “The opportunity to serve and protect this community is a welcomed opportunity that I humbly wish to take on.”
Maynard will be sworn in at the Board’s Regular Meeting at 7 p.m. on June 14 at the Rush Park Auditorium. He will then take his seat at the dais and begin his term of office, which expires in November 2012.
