Orphaned Three Times Over, Dudley Deserves a Permanent Home

The 22-month-old cat has spent most of his life in a shelter, but if the third time really is the charm, his next adoption will be his last.

Editor’s Note: The Cat of the Week feature is written and submitted by Gail Bowers, a volunteer at the where the animals are available for adoption. The shelter is at 1700 Adolfo Lopez Drive, Seal Beach, 562-430-4993.

Dudley has spent most of his life at the Seal Beach Animal Care Center. He arrived as a tiny kitten of just two weeks old in April of 2009 and was quickly adopted with his littermates. But we was returned shortly after, adopted again and returned.

Dudley suffered from an inflamed gum condition called stomatitis, a reaction of the soft tissues in the mouth to plaque on the teeth. The only effective treatment is tooth extraction, and poor little Dudley had all but his canines extracted. He remained on medication for about a year but now is off all meds and his mouth is looking great.

Despite all of this, Dudley has remained a sweet and friendly boy. If given the chance he will crawl into your lap to cuddle and purr. He gets along well with other cats and is very overdue for his own home.
