Movie Crew Shoots Star-Studded Film in Los Alamitos

Movie crews were in town this week to shoot portions of the Jon Favreau film 'Chef.'

Maybe you did a double take this week because you could swear you saw Scarlett Johansson at Volcano Burger. Or maybe it was Sofía Vergara or Dustin Hoffman or Robert Downey Jr.

The good news is you’re not crazy. A film crew did make itself at home in Los Alamitos this week for four days of filming the upcoming comedy “Chef.”

Written, featuring and directed by Jon Favreau, the movie is about “a chef who loses his restaurant job and starts up a food truck in an effort to reclaim his creative promise, while piecing back together his estranged family,” according to IMDb.com

The film crew parked make-up trailers and a general staging area on the McAuliffe Middle School campus but did most of its actual filming near the old Cottonwood Church, said John Eclevia, the Los Alamitos Unified School District’s facilities director.

According to IMDb, the film is scheduled for release in May of 2014. The cast includes: Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Sofía Vergara, Dustin Hoffman, John Leguizamo, Jon Favreau, Bobby Cannavale, Emjay Anthony, Julian Graham, Minn Vo .
