Rossmoor Christmas Lights Contest Winners Announced

Homeowners association chooses its top three Christmas Lights Contest winners. Judges describe some elements as "playful," "well-thought-out" and "majestic."

It was almost Christmas, and in all the hussle and bussle, this story got lost.

Hopefully, you have a little holiday cheer left over to forgive us here at Patch.

The Rossmoor Homeowners Association has chosen among more than 30 homes the winners of its sixth annual Christmas Lights Contest.

Third Place: Rosalio and Linda Alonso, 2631 Piedmont Ave.

The RHA says that up close, these contest rookies' home is friendly and playful; stand back a little farther, and it’s majestic.

Second Place: Bill and Lorraine Jones, 3262 St. Albans Drive

The Joneses have this year added even more Rudolph characters to the display.  According to the RHA, one judge said, “Lights, lights and more lights,” and another noted that each strand and character was carefully placed in a well-thought-out style. Even in the daytime, said the RHA, the home is beautiful with all the decorations and color.

First Place:  John and Shirley Vega, 11325 Donovan Road

The Vegas removed the cars from the driveway and replaced them with a decorated Airstream. And they gave up the use of their garage for the benefit of those viewing the spectacle, which includes golden icicles and forest animals, plus St. Nick greeting you at the front door.
