J.H. McGaugh Elementary School Wins Grant from Barona Band of Mission Indians

Senator Tom Harman nominated the school for the $5,000

Senator Tom Harman announced that J.H. McGaugh Elementary School received a $5,000 grant from the Barona Band of Mission Indians. Harman nominated the Seal Beach school for the grant as part of the organization’s annual Barona Education Grant Program.

“Successful schools are characterized by parental involvement and local control,” said noted Senator Harman, “with dollars going directly to the classroom to enhance the learning experience for students.  McGaugh Elementary School certainly fits that description.”

J.H. McGaugh is home to a large population of students with special needs. The grant will be used to purchase digital projectors, document cameras, and iPads for special day classrooms where students have a variety of academic challenges.

The grant process invites schools to describe a critical need and how a Barona Grant would address that need. The application is submitted by and requires a recommendation from a state legislator.
