This week marks the start of the Orange County Fair, with its theme of “Let’s Eat!” Other events around the area are also food-inspired, and provide a few diverting options.

Why go: This week’s trucks include Baconmania, The Flip Truck and Rancho-A-Go-Go.

Where/When: , 132 Main St., Seal Beach; 6 to 9 p.m. Friday
Why go: Enjoy some tapas and wine while shopping in this hip vintage store
Pricing: Free, but reservations required


Where/When: Orange County Fairgrounds, 88 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa; opens Friday, runs Wednesday through Sunday through Aug. 14
Why go: This weekend’s acts include the Peking Acrobats, Hula Girls and lots of contests like Push-a-Peanut.
Pricing: $11 adults and teens over 13, $8 for seniors 60 and over, $6 ages 6 to 12, free under 6; Parking $7 to $14


Where/When: , 3591 Cerritos Ave., Los Alamitos; 9 a.m. Saturday
Why go: Cheer on your neighbors as they complete the 24-hour relay to fight cancer.
Pricing: Free


Where/When: 3232 Hedwig Road, Los Alamitos; 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday
Why go: Kids 5 to 15 can get a bit of beginning tennis instruction.
Pricing: Free

Thanks so much Paige for such great information! Hope to see you Friday night at Hapa Collective in Seal Beach for free wine and appetizers from The Abbey! It's a great store with wonderful items created by very talented artists (and some of the lovely stuff is made out of trash!)

If you want to be spied on by your own government, Snowden is bad. Courage is missing in the states. The military have it but not the majority of our mediocre citizens.
