The $1.65-million storm-drain project will soon be completed.

Electric Avenue will soon be completely reopened.

The work on Electric Avenue, which has been closed for about a month, completes the bulk of the project, which has caused closures on Electric Avenue and Ocean Avenue since the project began in November.

Since 2004, Seal Beach has experienced two "10-year" floods. With each one, residents pile up sandbags around the entrances to their homes and garages, but inevitably, some of the homes still get flooded.

Though the project has created minor traffic and parking challenges on the northeast end of town, many residents in the neighborhood welcome the work in hopes that it could offer relief from heavy storms.
