The Orange County Journalism Education Association (OCJEA) is in desperate need of judges to critique and score articles written at an on-the-spot competition Saturday, March 2, at Fullerton College, 321 E Chapman Ave.
During the competition, student journalists from Orange County high schools watch one-hour press conferences and then have one hour to write news stories.
There is a need for volunteer judges in the areas of news, editorials, features, sports features, critical reviews, editorial cartooning, photography and yearbook.
The competition will be from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the judges' time commitment would be two to four hours, depending on the category. All confirmed judges will be notified of specifics, and lunch will be provided.
Anyone interested in volunteering as a judge should contact OCJEA President Lindsay Safe at ocjeanews@gmail.com or 714-642-0148. Also, please include your category preference(s).
