5 Things to Know: Parking Restrictions, Refuge Volunteers, Walking a Seal

Five things to start off your day in Los Alamitos and Seal Beach.

Here are five things to start off your Wednesday in Los Alamitos and Seal Beach:

  1. The Los Alamitos City Council on Monday adopted an urgency ordinance that now limits parking at Laurel Park's 24 parking spaces to only three hours. See why the City Council had to take emergency action here.
  2. The Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge will play host to a plant restoration event on Saturday and is currently seeking volunteers to sign up to help by today at the latest. See where to sign up and more details in our article.
  3. Check out this blast from the past in Seal Beach. A 1922 photo shows a woman walking a sea lion on the beach near the Seal Beach Pier. Definitely wouldn't get away with that in today's times!
  4. In case you missed it, Wednesday's most read headline was:
Eastern Long Beach Man Dies From West Nile Virus
  5. See something around town that you think needs to be covered on Los Alamitos-Seal Beach Patch? Let me know and send me an email at John.Schreiber@Patch.com.
