Share Your Photos from the 2013 Presidential Inauguration

Hey Seal Beach, Rossmoor and Los Alamitos locals. Any of you attending the inaugural ceremonies? Share the experience with us.

Millions of people will head toward the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 21 to witness President Barack Obama take the oath of office for his second term.

And at Patch, we thought we'd ask ... are any Los Al, Rossmoor or Seal Beach residents heading out there?

On Jan. 20, 2009, Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States. The theme for his first inauguration was “A New Birth of Freedom.” The ceremony honored the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. This year, the theme is “Faith in America's Future,” honoring the installation of the Statue of Freedom on the Capitol Dome 150 years ago in 1863.

This year's inauguration will also commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as Jan. 21 is also Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The president will honor King by taking the oath of office for his second term with his hand placed on two bibles—one owned by the civil rights activist and one owned by Abraham Lincoln.

The ceremony is followed by the inaugural parade and then the inaugural ball.
