How You Can Help in the Aftermath of Tragedy

Several funds have been set up in honor of the victims' families. Local salons host fundraisers.

To Help Those Affected by the Tragedy:

  • Splash Salon in Huntington Beach has opened a charity account through Wells Fargo bank and is accepting donations for the victims’ families. Donate money by bringing cash or a check made out to  "The Seal Beach Victims Relief Fund-Splash Salon" to any Wells Fargo location or to the Splash Salon at 9807 Adams Ave. in Huntington Beach. Deadline to donate is Oct. 31.
  • House of Synergy Salon and Spa in Long Beach will be giving free haircuts and chair massages from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 30. In lieu of payment, the salon is accepting donations that will be given to the families of the victims. The salon is at 4126 E. Anaheim St. in Long Beach.
  • The Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce has set up an account to accept donations to support Salon Meritage in the weeks ahead. Those who wish to give can donate via check made out to: The "Seal Beach Victims;" bring in cash or make a direct deposit at Bank of America to the "Seal Beach Victims" fund.
  • Victims' family members have created a memorial fund to accept donations called the Salon Meritage Memorial Fund where donations can be made online.
  • Vons Pavillions on Pacific Coast Highway will donate $25,000 in matching donations. Simply make a donation during checkout between now and Monday, and Vons will match the donation.
  • Keller Williams Realty in Los Alamitos is having a fundraiser for all the families and victims Nov.5th at 11am in their parking lot at 10900 Los Alamitos Blvd, Los Alamitos, CA. Please come and help support "Love Seal Beach." All proceeds will go to the family and victims. Call Elaine or Denise at 562-626-8600.
  • Long Beach Memorial Hospital's blood supply was severely depleted by the tragedy. To help, donate blood at the hospital, 2801 Atlantic Ave. (562) 933-0808
  • is launching a fundraising campaign to help the family of late Murrieta resident and Meritage Salon owner Randy Fannin with funeral costs. Fannin's daughter, Kelli Vasquez, works as a nail technician at the salon. Murrieta Day Spa plans to donate 100 percent of its proceeds from services booked on Monday, Oct. 17, according to the salon's Facebook page. Further, straight donations are being accepted until Oct. 21, when a check will be presented to the family. Donations can be made online at Mdayspa.com by using the gift certificate tab and indicating Salon Meritage or Kelli Vasquez as the recipient. Call 951-677-8111 for more information.   • In support of all the familes affected by the tragedy, Seal Beach resident Lydia Oliver, who was also among Michelle's friends, will donate 25 percent of her sales purchased at marykay.com/lydiaoliver.
  • Drip Wear, a Belmont Shore-based surf apparel company, is donating 50 percent of all proceeds through Thanksgiving to the Salon Meritage Memorial Fund.

If You Want to Host a Fundraiser:

  • The City of Seal Beach has asked people looking to host a fundraiser to coordinate with the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce. It will help donors know that the chamber has verified the legitimacy of the fund.

If You Need Help:

  • New Hope Grief Counselors will be available at Grace Community Church on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. until noon for family and friends of the victims. Please arrive by 10 a.m. The New Hope Grief Support Community can be reached at 562-429-0075.
  • Ask Erik Computer Services is offering free help for family members of shooting victims who may need to access their loved-ones password-protected computers in the days and weeks ahead.
  • Yaseng Yann is offering free Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Accupuncture treatments to all survivors and their families until Oct. 21. She is at Wellsprings Wellness Center, 550 Pacific Coast Hwy., #207, in Seal Beach. For more information, contact (562) 594-1158
  • Katja Jones at D'Aversa salon is offering a complimentary 30-minute craniosacral therapy session to whoever needs help through Oct. 22. It can  help with trauma, for kids too. For more information, contact (562) 795-5885.
