11-year-old Seal Beach Coffee Bean to Hold Ribbon Cutting

The manager says they've never had an official grand opening ceremony. The event will have prize raffles, pastries and samples of holiday drinks.

If you've driven through Old Town Seal Beach in the past decade, you've seen the local Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.

And, if you've had a long night, you've probably bought an espresso there.

But on Wednesday, the caffeinated Main Street mainstay is scheduled to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony -- traditionally associated with new businesses -- even though the biz celebrated its 11th anniversary last week.

Sponsored by the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce, the ceremony will include prize raffles, pastries, and free samples of holiday drinks.

The 5 p.m. event celebrates Coffee Bean's membership in the chamber, which the shop joined in April, according to Manager Cheryl Ringel.

Besides increasing "community involvement," Ringel said, the event also serves as the business's official ribbon cutting, which the coffee shop never had.

Ringel, who has been with the business since the beginning, said she loves the "small community" feel of Seal Beach and how "everybody knows everybody. "

And, she added, she loves Main Street.

"There's so many different shops, and they're all unique," Ringel said.

Coffee bean is at 347 Main Street in Seal Beach. For more information call 562-596-4006.
